A Bridgeport man was charged with sixth-degree larceny Monday after he allegedly shoplifted $160 worth of Coca-Cola from the on Villa Avenue, police said.
According to the police report, Stop & Shop employees saw a man loading 12-packs of the soda into a shopping cart and then left the store with the cart, but didn't pay.
The man drove away in a green Dodge Caravan. The license plate lead police to an Easton resident, who told officers his cousin had been driving the car.
Officers arranged to meet the cousin at Stop & Shop, where Aslam Khawaja, 46, reportedly returned about two dozen 12-packs of Coca-Cola, according to the report.
Khawaja was arrested at the scene and released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 4.
