Two men were arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing $220 worth of items from BJ's on Black Rock Turnpike, police said.
Angel Ibarrondo, 43, of Bridgeport, and Samuel Martinez, 42, who told police he was homeless, were both charged with sixth-degree larceny, according to the report.
Loss prevention employees directed to police to the men, who had reportedly left the store without paying for a Sony DVD player and a Samsung computer monitor, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.
According to the report, Martinez was walking north on Black Rock Turnpike with the 20-inch computer monitor under his sweatshirt. Police also found a pocketknife and three crack pipes on Martinez's person, Lussier said.
Ibarrondo was found walking south on Black Rock Turnpike with the DVD player hidden under his jacket, according to the police report. Ibarrondo reportedly told police that Martinez put the DVD player in his jacket.
Both men were released on promises to appear in court on Nov. 26.
