A third burglary was reported early Tuesday, this time on Knapps Highway.

The complainant reported that two jewelry boxes containing approximately $300 in jewelry were stolen from her home, police said.

The resident told police the theft must have occurred sometimes between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday, but she did not realize the jewelry was missing until later that evening.

According to the police report, the resident noticed that the screen in her kitchen window appeared to have fallen out, but she thought that a piece of wood that had been holding the window open fell and broke the screen. Once she discovered the jewelry missing, she realized that someone must have taken the screen out of the window to gain entry. Police concurred.

This is under investigation.
