A Fairfield woman was arrested Monday after she allegedly struck a 15-year-old male in the side of the forehead with a five-pound dumbbell, police said. The juvenile was also arrested for allegedly shoving the woman.

Patricia Reyes, 19, of Carthage Street, was charged with risk of injury to minor, disorderly conduct, and second-degree assault after staff at Bridgeport Hospital called police to report they had just treated the teen for an inch-deep laceration to his forehead, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.

After interviewing Reyes and the juvenile, police had cause to charge both individuals. Reyes was held on a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to have appeared in court on Tuesday. The teen was scheduled to have appeared in juvenile court on Tuesday.

Police did not say what the altercation was regarding.
