Two Fairfield women were arrested Wednesday in connection to an alleged hit and run on Kings Highway East, police said.
According to the accident report, the vehicle the victim was driving was stopped at the red light at the intersection of Kings Highway East and Commerce Drive. A second vehicle struck the rear of the first car and then fled the scene, police said.
State police alerted Fairfield officers shortly after that a car similar to the one that fled the scene was involved in an accident on I-95. Officers determined the license plate of the vehicle and went to the registered owner's Woods End Road residence.
When police arrived at the Woods End Road home, the suspect's roommate told officers that the registered owner wasn't there, Deputy Police Chief Chris Lyddy said. After several attempts to make contact with the suspect, she was found in the home. The vehicle that was reportedly involved in the accidents was found in the vicinity of the Woods End Road home.
Police charged Dana Chaisson, 36, with evading responsibility, following too close, and operating a vehicle without insurance, according to the report. She was released on a $100 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8.
Chaisson's roommate, Lisa Furgess, was charged with interfering with a police investigation. She was released on a promise to appear in court on Jan. 8.
