Cops: Two Charged in Attempted Shoplifting at Home Depot

According to police, two Stamford women attempted to steal $1,400 worth of power tools and batteries.

Two Stamford women were arrested on Friday after they allegedly attempted to shoplift power tools from Home Depot, police said.

Tori Fitts, 45, and Gretchen Durette, 40, were charged with third-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy after Home Depot security guards noticed the two women allegedly attempt to leave the store with $1400 worth of power tools and batteries inside a shopping cart.

According to the report, the women tried to run out of the store but grabbed one of them and fell to the ground. The other woman tried to get the security guard off the suspect, and reportedly kicked another guard in the process.

An officer arrived, arrested the two women, and transported them to police headquarters, according to the report. They were both released on a promise to appear in court on Dec. 19.
