Cops: Two Puppies Found Abandoned, Dead

The puppies were found on the side of the road on Park Avenue, near the Merritt Parkway. This is under investigation.

Two dead puppies were found on Tuesday in a cage on the side of the road on Park Avenue, near the Merritt Parkway, according to police.

One puppy was male and the other female; both were tan pitbull mixes, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said. Pet ID microchips were not found in either dog.

This is under investigation.

Two cars were broken into on Tuesday evening in the parking lot of , police said.

The driver’s side window of an Infiniti was smashed and a laptop ($2,000) and leather briefcase ($200) were stolen, according to the report. The window damage is estimated at $500.

A Toyota Tundra pickup suffered a smashed passenger side window (damage: $500), and two bowling balls were stolen (totaling $100), Lussier said.

Police are investigating a Fairfield resident’s claim that her home healthcare aide stole money from her home.

According to the report, the aide was scheduled to work the weekend through Sunday, Feb. 5, but abruptly on Saturday afternoon. The resident later discovered that $4,000 was missing from her bedroom, Lussier said.

This is under investigation.

An employee at reported to police on Tuesday that some pairs of expensive sunglasses had been stolen, Lussier said.

The employee described a black couple -- a male in his 40s, medium build, wearing black pants and a black shirt; and a female in her 30s, stocky build, and wearing a short black wig -- who were reportedly tinkering with the locked glass display case of sunglasses, according to the report.

The employee said he heard a noise consistent with the opening of the locked glass case and then the couple left in a silver or gray Cadillac sedan, Lussier said.

A pair of sunglasses is worth $395, according to the report. This is under investigation.

A Euclid Avenue resident reported to police on Wednesday that a package was stolen from her front porch, Lusier said.

A witness corroborated the claim and told police he saw a Hispanic male wearing a dark hoodie take the package and leave in a car.
