A New Haven woman was apparently not feeling the holiday spirit on Christmas Eve when she allegedly punched a pregnant woman in the face. The two, who know each other, were shopping at Walmart in Hamden when the altercation took place, according to police. The suspect is now facing a number of charges, including assault on a pregnant person.

An out-of-state complainant called Fairfield police this month to ask them to check on her deceased parents' home, which was listed for sale and supposed to be unoccupied. According to police, the daughter was taking care of the utility bills and noticed last month's bill was much higher than the previous month. Police checked on the home and found a woman was indeed living there, and she had found the home listed for rent on Craigslist. The complainant had not agreed to sublet the home. Police are investigating.

The owner and manager of a Hamden residential care facility was arrested for allegedly stealing one client's debit card and withdrawing $1,200 from the person's account, according to police. The woman also allegedly forged a check of another client for $130, police said.

There was nothing terribly unusual when, according to Darien police, 14 envelopes, apparently taken from mailboxes, were found in Darien near the New Canaan border. What was bizarre was that at about the same time, about four miles to the north in New Canaan, according to police there, mail and packages from doorsteps were taken—and some of the packages were then left at other homes in town.

A pair of brothers was picked up on burglary charges again last week in Shelton, according to police. Nicholas and Timothy Kulish were charged with burglary and criminal mischief on Dec. 19, a little more than one month after being held on $25,000 and $10,000 bonds, respectively, for a nearly identical crime.
