Funds missing from bank account

The resident at 1508 Post Road reported Monday Aug. 15 then when she returned home from vacation she discovered that someone had withdrawn $15,000 from her bank account. The bank told her that wire transfers were completed on the Aug. 12 through a bank in Manhattan. The incident is under further investigation.

Electronics and guitars stolen from garage

A homeowner on Winnepoge Drive reported early Monday evening Aug. 15 that sometime between the 1st and the time of his call that someone stole several items from his garage.

According to police, the homeowner said a cardboard box had gone missing that contained an Xbox, TV, wireless mic, two guitars and eight video games with a total overall value of $1,200. The garage was apparently unlocked.

Drunk driver takes out telephone pole

A Fairfield man was arrested Monday evening August 15 for operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to drive right after ramming and snapping in half a telephone pole near 4853 Congress Street.

According to police, Adam Salce, 18, of 226 Alberta Street, was traveling on Congress Street in his pickup when he crashed into a telephone pole. Police and fire responders to the scene found Salce on the scene, and under the influence. He failed several field sobriety tests and was issued a misdemeanor summons, with a court date of Aug. 23.

Damage to the pole caused a power outage in the adjacent neighborhood.

Two women arrested after brawl in the middle of the street

Two local women were arrested after a physical fight outdoors in the wee hours of Tuesday August 16.

According to police, Julie Longley, 29, of Bridgeport, and Kelly Ryan, 29, of Roselle Street, had gone out for dinner and, at around 1:45 a.m., were heading to Longley’s home, with Ryan following Longley. Ryan turned off, Longley followed her, they stopped and then got out and began arguing. The discussion turned physical, with hitting and spitting, and Ryan ended up striking her own head on the pavement. Ryan was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital. Both women were given misdemeanor summons for breach of peace and released on a promise to appear in court Aug. 16.
