Under the permit restrictions, Osterberg may drive between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily, police said. Friday’s accident occurred shortly before 8 p.m.

Several witnesses saw the accident, police said. One witness, a retired police officer, helped get the pedestrian to the side of the road in front of the Tunxis Hill Road , according to department spokesperson Sgt. Osterberg’s car was parked in the Subway parking lot when police arrived, Lussier said. There was damage to the windshield, according to the report.

When police questioned Osterberg, she reportedly admitted to drinking and that she had been charged with DUI in February, Lussier said. Police detected the odor of alcohol on her breath and administered field sobriety tests, which she failed.

Osterberg was taken into custody and posted a $1,000 bond, police said. Her court date is April 10.

Police are still investigating and reconstructing the details of the accident.
