Elderly Man Rescued from Fire Late Thursday Dies

Suffered Severe Burns, Smoke Inhalation in Apartment Fire at Parish Court

The elderly man who was pulled, unconsciuos, from his apartment at Parish Court during a fire late Thursday has died.

Robert Jordan, who lived in a ground-floor apartment in the town-owned complex of senior housing on Warde Terrace, died today, a spokeswoman at Bridgeport Hospital said. Jordan was initially taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center and was transferred to Bridgeport Hospital's Burn Unit.

The cause of the fire, which was confined to Jordan's apartment, remained under investigation today by the Fairfield Fire Marshal's office. Assistant Fire Chief Douglas Chavenello said early today that the fire did not appear to be suspicious.
