A car getting off Interstate 95 at exit 24 Monday night smashed into the Cumberland Farms at the bottom of the off ramp and several cars in the parking lot.

The accident shut down the exit 24 off ramp on I-95 southbound in Fairfield for about two hours. According to the state Department of Transportation (DOT), the accident was reported at 9:03 p.m. on Monday, March 24.

NBC CT reported that a car crashed into the Cumberland Farms gas station at the bottom of the off ramp.

Their reporter on the scene, Josh Chapin, tweeted out a photo that shows a car slammed into the pole barriers in front of the building. The car is heavily damaged and, according to Chapin, is one of at least four that were involved in the crash.

In an update late Monday night, NBC reported that four people were transported to the hospital.
