Fairfield BJ's Reports Attempted TV Shoplifter

The suspect attempted to steal $520 worth of merchandise, police said.

Employees at BJ’s Wholesale Club reported to police on Thursday an attempted television theft, police said.

A black male donning a beard, dark clothing, and a black vest reportedly attempted to shoplift a shopping cart with $520 worth of merchandise, including a TV, police said. The man fled in a vehicle had been parked in the handicapped spot right outside of the store, according to the report.

The car he fled in had been reported stolen out of Bridgeport, police said. They later located the vehicle, which was empty and unoccupied, outside of the PT housing project in Bridgeport.

A Gucci purse was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the Parks and Recreation Center on Wednesday, police said.

The car was unlocked, according to the police report. The purse contained credit cards.

This is under investigation.
