Fairfield Cops Arrest Milford Man on DUI Charge

Police said the driver had trouble staying in his lane.

A Milford man was arrested on Kings Highway East early this morning on a DUI charge, police said.

John Lyden, 46, was pulled over after police followed him from the Kings Highway town line until they reached Villa Avenue and observed that he was swerving on the road way and entering adjacent lanes, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.

When he turned west on Kings Highway, police said the driver could not stay in his lane, according to the report.

Police said Lyden slurred his words and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot. He failed field sobriety tests and was transported to headquarters, where he was given a Nov. 15 court date and released on a $40 bond, Lussier said.

A Bridgeport man who reportedly used a counterfeit $100 to “purchase” items in April from the on Black Rock Turnpike, where he was employed, was arrested Monday on a charge of first-degree forgery, police said.

Juan Feliciano, 24, was arrested in court Monday, Lussier said.

Investigators worked with the Secret Service counterfeit bill system to track the $100 bill and found that it had been used 36 times in Connecticut, mainly in the Wallingford area, Lussier said. It had been used in stores like Lowes and Home Depot.

Feliciano’s court date was Monday and he was held on a $1,000 bond.

An employee at the on Kings Highway Cut Off reported a TV missing from the hotel’s storage room and believes it was taken sometime on Nov. 5, police said.

The storage room that housed the black Philips 42-in. television, valued at $600, is only accessible to employees -- and there was no sign of forced entry, Lussier said.

She added that the hotel had a history of larcenies: some reported, some not.

This case is under investigation.

A PHYtness 4U employee reported Monday a possible larceny that occurred on Nov. 5, police said.

The employee said cash (totaling less than $100) was taken from the cashbox sometime that day, Lussier said. The employee said she had locked the front door; it is unknown how entry was gained, according to the report.

Employees reviewed surveillance footage and realized two people broke in on Nov. 5, police said. There was a person, believed to be female, who was wearing light pants, a facemask, a North Face jacket with a fur-lined hood, a dark baseball cap, and a dark complexion, police said.

The other suspect was wearing a black jacket with gray elbow patches, a black baseball hat, and a hood, and it was difficult to tell whether the person was a male or female, according to the report.

The break in is under investigation.

A Steep Hill Road resident reported Monday that his Smith & Wesson 9 mm semi-automatic pistol is missing, police said.

The homeowner is in the process of renting his house and was advised to secure all firearms, Lussier said. He told police he kept the pistol under his mattress -- but when he went to get it, it wasn’t there. He hasn’t checked on it in about a year, according to the report.

He said six contractors and one cleaning person have been working on the house in the year since he last saw the gun, Lussier said.

This is under investigation.
