Fairfield Cops Assist in Homicide Suspect Search

Arrest reports from the weekend, Feb. 3 - 5.

Fairfield police assisted state police in detaining an alleged suspect in a New York homicide, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.

The suspect, Jordan Hawes, was reportedly driving a stolen vehicle that police found parked and unoccupied in the parking lot of the I-95 northbound service area Lussier said. Hawes was detained as he walked out of McDonald’s, according to the report. State police officers took Hawes into custody.

A Salem, Conn. man who was wanted in connection to drug trafficking in Maine was arrested on Saturday after a motor vehicle accident on Kings Highway in Fairfield, police said.

Yousey Shanaan, 24, was charged with being a fugitive from justice after police confirmed the arrest warrant with Maine police.

Shanaan was held on a $100,000 bond; his court date is Feb. 14.

Two New Fairfield men were arrested early Saturday and charged with criminal trespass at , police said.

Philip Dagostino and Tyler Estevez, both 18, returned to the campus after being warned a few hours early to leave, according to the police report. The two were reportedly intoxicated and being disruptive.

They were both released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 14.

A Bridgeport man was arrested on Friday after he allegedly stole sweatpants from Bob’s on the Post Road, police said.

Harold Kaufman, 46, reportedly took an $18 pair of sweatpants into a fitting room with him, put them on, and wore them out of the store without paying, according to police. Bob’s loss prevention took note and Kaufman fled the parking lot, according to the report.

Police found Kaufman about two-tenths of a mile away from the store, reportedly hiding in the I-95 Round Hill Road embankment, police said.

He was released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 10.
