Fairfield Cops Help Track Down Alleged Car Thief in Bridgeport
The following information was provided by the Fairfield Police Department in a press release.
Fairfield and Bridgeport police tracked down one of three suspects involved in a car theft and foot pursuit in Bridgeport, according to a release issued by Fairfield Police spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier.
The vehicle, occupied by three black males, was confirmed stolen out of Stamford, police said. When police initiated a motor vehicle stop for a possible misuse of plates, the vehicle’s occupants fled, leading Fairfield and Bridgeport police on a foot pursuit, according to the release.

The suspect driver appeared to have dropped his jacket in his attempt to flee, according to the release. Bridgeport’s K-9 was able to track down the driver in Bridgeport, on the corner of State Street and Clinton Avenue, Lusser said in the release. Fairfield’s K-9 Officer Ruger also facilitated in the track.
The driver, Rafael Cooney, 21, of Bridgeport, was charged with larceny, reckless endangerment, criminal trover, and interfering with a police officer, as well as several motor vehicle charges, police said. The two other suspects were not caught.
