Fairfield Cops Warn Residents of Distraction Scams

A Davis Road resident was tricked into opening his door to thieves.

Fairfield police are warning residents of "distraction scams" they could fall prey to.

Last week, a Davis Road resident reported to police that a middle-aged white male with dark hair, a blue shirt, blue jeans, and a blue baseball cap knocked on his door and offered to do yard work.

The complainant, who police said was elderly, lead the suspect into the backyard to discuss the work while a second male went into the house and stole an unknown amount of jewelry and cash.
