Fairfield Firefighters Extinguish Early Morning Blaze

Firefighters respond to early-morning fire on Chatham Road.

Responding to an early call on Monday morning, the Fairfield Fire Department extinguished a blaze in a two-story home on 50 Chatham Road.

At 4:23am, the emergency communication center received a tip about a "burning odor" in an area off Woodbine Lane. Fairfield Fire Engine number 3 was dispatched and discovered a ranch-style home on Chatham Road fully engulfed in flames.

Fire engines 1, 2, and 5 were sent to the scene and within an hour of the first call, the fire was under control, then extinguished.

Upon further investigation, firefighters discovered the home was unoccupied at the time of the blaze. An investigation is on-going.
