Fairfield Man Accused of Selling Meth, Coke at Gas Station

A two-month investigation by Fairfield detectives lead to the arrest of a local man accused of selling drugs in the Cumberland Farms parking on Kings Highway East.

Detectives learned a suspect was reportedly selling drugs at the gas station. During the investigation police stopped a vehicle they believed to have a connection to the drug sales and, after obtaining a search warrant, found cocaine and a large quantity of methamphetamine in the car, according to the report.

Police also obtained a warrant to search the vehicle owner's home, which is located near Fairfield Alternative High School. That search uncovered marijuana, steroids, and drug paraphernalia, according to Det. Stephen Rilling.

The suspect -- identified as Michael Caratone, 24, of Warren Avenue -- was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics, two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of steroids, possession of marijuana, and possession of cocaine.

He was released on a promise to appear in court on June 27.
