A man was charged with interfering with a police officer and several motor vehicle charges on Tuesday.

Antonio Demetrius Small, 20, was driving a vehicle with plates that belonged to another vehicle when police pulled him over near exit 26 on I-95 north, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.

Small gave police his brother’s name, but the officer was able to determine through the database in his cruiser that Small had given the officer the wrong name, Lussier said.

Small then gave police his correct name and his fingerprints confirmed his identity once he was brought to headquarters, according to the report. Police also found that Small’s license had been suspended in November of 2011.

A bottle of cognac was seized from the car Small was driving and tagged as evidence. Police also found a large amount of cash on Small’s person during a search, according to the report.

Small was charged with interfering with a police officer, operating an unregistered vehicle, driving without insurance, misuse of license plates, and operating with a suspended license. He was released on a $500 bond; his court date is Feb. 21.

Police are investigating a report of a forged prescription for oxycodone used at the CVS Pharmacy on Grasmere Avenue on Monday.

According to the report, the same suspect -- a white female -- had filled a prescription for 180 oxycodone pills at the CVS pharmacy on Black Rock Turnpike with what was likely another forged prescription.

The Grasmere Ave pharmacy checked in with the woman’s doctor, who said he did not prescribe her oxycodone, police said.

The store turned over video surveillance of the suspect. This is under investigation.
