Fairfield Man Tricked Into Buying Fake Home Theater System

The complainant said he was sold a system valued at $2,699 for just $100, according to police.

 

A Fairfield resident reported to that two men sold him a fake home theater system in the parking lot of Home Depot on Kings Highway, according to Sgt. Sue Lussier.

The complainant told the department that he was approached by two men in a brown mini van with New Jersey license plates, who told him that they had an overstock of Purtone home theater systems, Lussier said. The men told the complainant they could sell him a system, which is valued at $2,699, for $100. After the complainant paid for the system and took it home, he discovered that the plug did not fit into the outlet.

The complainant said that one man was between the age of 35 and 45, heavy set, had short, blonde hair and was wearing a grey shirt. He said the other was between the age of 25 and 25 and had jet black hair and a goatee.

A Fairfield resident reported an altercation between his daughter and another student on school grounds.

According to Sgt. Lussier, the complainant's daughter, a student at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, was attending gym class on the football field when another student made a racial slur towards her. When the victim walked away, the student then grabbed her on the back of her neck.

The victim's parents are requesting that the attacker and her family not contact them for any reason. The incident is still under investigation.

A Whitewood Drive resident reported to police that a neighbor's son damaged his fence and rear bedroow window.

According to Lussier, the complainant noticed 12 small holes in his vinyl fence and one hole in the screen of his rear bedroom window. He told police that his neighbor's son owns an AirSoft gun. He said that he did not want to press charges, but  wanted the fence to be repaired. The fence is valued at $1,000.

The loss prevention department at Kohl's on Tuxis Hill Road reported to police that a Bridgeport juvenile attempted to steal two bottles of cologne on Monday.

According to Lussier, the juvenile, who was in the store with her cousin, was caught on camera concealing two bottles of cologne in her shirt and pants while standing in the jewelry section of the store. She was then seen walking past the registers and towards the exit without paying. The bottles of cologne were valued at a total of $83.

The juvenile was detained, ID'd and released into the custody of her cousin because her parents couldn't be reached. She was charged with sixth-degree larceny and is scheduled to appear in court on June 25.

Two Bridgeport residents were caught stealing energy drinks from a Super Stop & Shop on Villa Avenue, according to police.

Lussier said that Annie Turocizi, 21, of Montgomery Street was seen filling two green bags with seven cases of Monster energy drinks and seven cases of Red Bull and exiting without paying. She was accompanied by 24-year-old Paul Gates.

After fleeing the store, officers caught up with the the two on Berwick Avenue. The merchandise, which was valued at $118, was found behind a building on the same street. They were each charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny. Their bond was set at $500 and they were scheduled to appear in court on June 12.
