William Martel, 20, of Hill Top Drive, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found him sitting in a car in and noticed a strong odor of burning marijuana issuing from the vehicle, according to the police report.

When responding officers approached Martel, he told them he had just rented the vehicle and there were no drugs in the car. Ruger searched the vehicle and hit on marijuana in the glove compartment, Lussier said. In that compartment were a glass jar containing a large amount of weed and a plastic bag with more weed, Lussier said.

Elizabeth Doemland, 22, and her boyfriend David Donahue, 23, both of Pierce Street, were both charged with conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer, according to the report. Doemland was further charged with sixth-degree larceny.

Doemland allegedly concealed items in a reusable shopping bag and then she and Donahue walked past all points of sale and out of the store, police said. Store employees stopped and detained them until police arrived.

Both suspects gave a false name for Doemland at first and Donahue refused to get in the police cruiser, Lussier said. They eventually gave police Doemland’s real name and they were transported to headquarters.

Doemland also had warrant for her arrest for failure to appear in court in the second degree, Lussier said. She was held on a $1,500 bond and issued a court date of Jan. 4 for her failure to appear charge and Jan. 3 for the larceny charge.

Donahue was released on a promise to appear in court on Jan. 3. Both were warned not to return to Whole Foods.
