Fairfield Police Investigate Reports of Stolen Cars, Car Break-In

Two cars were reported stolen Thursday and one was broken into.

Police are investigating a series of stolen vehicles and car break-ins reported on Thursday.

A Norwalk man visiting the on Jefferson Street Thursday afternoon reported his white 1996 Buick Century station wagon was missing from the parking lot, police said. The car had been unlocked.

In the parking lot on Black Rock Turnpike, a gym-goer reported his black 1995 Honda Accord was stolen sometime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, police said. The car had been locked and the complainant had the keys on him when he discovered it was missing.

Another Planet Fitness member reported the passenger side window of her vehicle had been smashed and her purse taken sometime between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., police said. The purse contained $300 in cash, credit cards, and the complainant’s passport. Police said the purse could be seen by passersby through the window. Damage to the window is estimated at $500.
