Fairfield Police Investigate Series of Car Break-Ins

Windows were smashed on three vehicles Wednesday into Thursday, police said.

A Planet Fitness patron reported to police Wednesday that her car had been broken into while she was in the gym.

The complainant told police that between 1:30 p.m. and 3:20 p.m., someone smashed the left rear window and stolen a backpack and wallet, police said.

The damage is estimated at $500 and the belongings are valued at $300, according to the report. One of the woman's credit cards was used at a gas station in Bridgeport after the theft was reported.

A Webb Road resident reported to police Thursday that a rear window on his Nissan Murano was smashed by a rock overnight.

According to the report, the resident heard the alarm go off and went outside to investigate. Nothing appeared to be missing from the car, which was parked in the driveway. The complainant found a rock in the trunk area of the car.

The damage is estimated at $500. This is under investigation.

A resident of nearby Eagle Drive reported a similar incident Thursday. A passenger window on the complainant's Hummer had been smashed overnight.

Items, including clothing, an iPod, GPS, radar detector, were stolen, and it appeared that the suspect attempted to steal the radio, police said. The stolen items are valued at a total of $1,078. The damage to the window is estimated at $500.

This case is also under investigation.
