Fairfield Police Looking for Attempted Robbery Suspect

A man allegedly attempted to rob Cumberland Farms of a carton of Newport Lights, police said.

The cashier at cashier at Cumberland Farms on Kings Highway East reported to police late Tuesday that a man attempted to rob the convenience store of cigarettes, police said.

A tall, thin white male with blue eyes, wearing a white hoodie and light blue jeans, brought a pack of Pringles to the counter and then asked for a carton of Newport Lights, police said.

The cashier told police that she scanned the carton and told the man the price. He then reached over the counter and grabbed the cashier's arm, police said. The employee told police that she quickly moved backward and the man let go and fled the store without the cigarettes. According to the report, the suspect fled on foot toward Chambers Street and was gone before police arrived.
