Fairfield Police Question Man in Shooting on Black Rock Turnpike

A Fairfield man is being questioned by police in connection with firing a gun in the driveway of his home and allegedly killing a woodchuck, according to reports.

Police haven't identified the man who reportedly fired the gun about 2:30 p.m. outside his home in the 3800 block of Black Rock Turnpike, according to WFSB

Police were called to the home by tenants renting an apartment from the suspect who the tenants said threatened to shoot their cat too.

According to the Connecticut Post, police tackled the man to subdue him and retrieve a rifle after he refused police orders to drop the weapon. The man, who police said probably will be charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, is being treated at an area hospital for treatment.

Police are in the process of obtaining a search warrant for the home to determine if there are any more weapons, according to the newspaper. Police reportedly have been called to the house previously because of tenant-landlord disputes.
