Fairfield Police Searching For Suspect in Double Bank Robbery

Two Fairfield banks located minutes apart and adjacent to I-95 were robbed in a 20-minute span Thursday afternoon. 

In both robberies a subject entered the bank and held up a note to the tellers announcing the robbery and demanding cash. The man indicated he was armed, but did not display a weapon. After obtaining money from both banks, he fled on foot, according to Sgt. Suzanne Lussier.

Police say the man first robbed Bank of America, 1320 Kings Highway Cutoff, at 3:44 p.m. and then fled on foot towards the shopping center housing Office Max, CVS and Marshall’s.

The man then reportedly changed his shirt and hat before driving in an unknown vehicle to commit a second robbery at Chase Bank, 340 Grasmere Avenue, at 4:04 p.m. He then fled behind the building near the Kings Highway entrance to Whole Foods.

Fairfield Police are working with other agencies in the Tri-State area, as there have been similar robberies in Greenwich, CT, Linden, NJ and Woodridge, NJ, according to Lussier.

Police are asking the public to report any suspicious activity they may have observed in the parking lots or on the roads near the bank locations.
