Fairfield Police to Accept Gun Turn-Ins Starting Today

The following information was taken from a state released by the Town of Fairfield.

The Fairfield Police Department will accept gun turn-ins starting today, Dec. 26, 201, in an effort to reduce the number of dangerous weapons in town.

People may turn over firearms and ammunition to the department, but officials request that the gun turn-ins be made during regular business hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Firearms must be unloaded and sealed in a plastic bag or gun case and ammunition should be packages separately. Any large amount of ammunition should be left outside the building -- an officer will retrieve it from the person turning it in.
