Fairfield Woman Charged With DUI With Kids in Tow

She reportedly had taken her neighbor's two kids out to pizza.

A Fairfield woman was charged with driving under the influence and risk of injury to a minor after she allegedly drove while intoxicated with two children in her car, police said.

Leslie Dmowski, 47, of Hurd Street had reportedly taken her neighbor’s children -- ages 11 and 13 -- to out to pizza on Wednesday evening. Prior to stopping Dmowski’s car, police received calls from on Commerce Drive, complaining of a woman creating a disturbance, according to the police report.

Police stopped Dmowski’s car near Pepe’s. Officers saw the children in the car and could detect alcohol on her breath, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said. Dmowski admitted to drinking wine, according to the report.

According to police, Dmowski failed one sobriety test and refused to complete two more. She also refused to have her fingerprints and photo taken, Lussier said.

She was charged with driving under the influence, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, refusing to be fingerprinted, and interfering with police, according to the report.

Dmowski was released on a combined $10,500 bond; her court date is March 22. The children were returned to their mother.
