The Fairfield Fire Department responded to the initial call of a car fire at 11:26 a.m., according to Assistant Fire Chief Christopher Tracy. When they arrived, it was clear that they were responding to a car vs. tree situation, not a car fire.

Tracy said that firefighters from Engine 3 extricated Rascoe from his vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
