Fire Patrolman Dragged 20 Feet by Car

Is this why they call them Stingrays? On the evening of July 28, police responding to a call for assistance at Mead Park in New Canaan arrived to find a . The car’s owner, Mark Weiss, of New Canaan, told police he was having trouble with the car battery and that he may have accidentally left the car in neutral while trying to restart it. He said it's possible he did not set the parking brake when he got out of the car. Weiss told Patch he ran after and tried to stop the car as it rolled into the pond. The  provided divers to assist with the recovery, and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was called in case the car leaked fluids in the water. No estimate of damage was available.

A Westport teen faces drug and other charges after apparently taking his father's motorboat out for a on the Saugatuck River. The boat was unoccupied when police arrived at the scene, making circles in the water until it ran out of gas. It isn't clear how the accused and possible other passengers disembarked from the vessel. No injuries were reported.

In Wilton, a man allegedly after he made a small purchase of other items with his credit card. When police confronted him about the matter, the man said he forgot to pay. The hardware store said he did indeed come back to pay for the power washer, but also said they would continue to press charges.

A Stamford man said to have a drinking problem and already facing charges for unwanted fondling, was arrested this week after apparently in the city.

In a separate matter, Stamford police are looking for a man accused of in front of women at a city hotel.

A Fairfield man reportedly that broke a neighbor's tailight, and then, after police were called to investigate but ultimately left the scene because the accused didn't answer his door, yelled this out his window: "If you call the cops again, I’m going to [expletive] kill you.”

An emergency responder in Greenwich was by a car driven by a man who ignored instructions to follow protocol when pedestrian and motor vehicle had to be diverted when electrical wires were downed near the center of town. The fire patrolman's outerwear reportedly was caught by the side mirror of the accused's car.
