Firefighter Injured as Second Post Road Building Catches Fire

Fairfield firefighters knocked down a second structure fire at a business on Post Road Monday afternoon. The blaze sent one firefighter to the hospital with minor injuries and caused extensive damage to the building.

The fire broke out on the roof of D’Valda & Sirico’s Dance and Music Center, 1580 Post Road, Fairfield at approximately 12:40 p.m., and had spread to the interior walls of the building as fire personnel arrived on scene.

Fire personnel immediately evacuated the building and adjacent stores, and initiated an aggressive interior attack with charged hose lines, according to Assistant Fire Chief Schuyler Sherwood.

The fire was controlled at approximately 1:30 p.m. One firefighter received injuries while operating at the scene and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. The firefighter was treated and has been released, according to Sherwood.

Adjoining occupancies had a smoke condition that was ventilated by the fire department utilizing positive pressure ventilation. D’Valda & Sirico’s suffered extensive fire damage to the exterior and water and smoke damage throughout the building.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is currently conducting an investigation, said Sherwood.

An earlier fire was put out at Advantage Resourcing on Post Road Monday morning.
