Firefighters Battle Blaze at Fairfield Business

A Post Road business suffered extensive damage, and nearby buildings were evacuated Monday morning, before a structure fire was knocked down by Fairfield firefighters.

A fire broke out in the ceiling of Advantage Resourcing, 911 Post Road, Fairfield, shortly after 8 a.m. Monday. Fire personnel immediately evacuated the building and adjacent stores, and initiated an aggressive interior attack with charged hose lines, according to Assistant Fire Chief Schuyler Sherwood.

The fire was controlled at approximetly 9:04 a.m. with no reported injuries. All on duty Fairfield Fire Department resources were required to control the fire, according to Sherwood.

Adjoining occupancies had a smoke condition that was ventilated by the fire department utilizing positive pressure ventilation. Advantage Resourcing suffered extensive fire damage to a bathroom and water and smoke damage throughout the building.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is currently conducting an investigation, said Sherwood.
