According to police, the manager at Lenox Jewelers, 2379 Black Rock Turnpike, reported that Andrea Wooten, 32, of Rosedale, NY, and Yvonne Gala, 22, of Brooklyn, NY, came into the store around 4:30 p.m. and presented I.D. in order to see a Rolex watch, valued at $18,700. The women said the watch was going to be a gift and that relatives were going to chip in to help purchase it. Twenty minutes earlier, the manager had received a call from an employee at Lux, Bond and Green jewelers, in Westport, alerting him that two black females had just attempted to use false identification to make a purchase. The descriptions of the women given by the Westport retailer matched that of the two women at Lenox and the Lenox manager alerted police.

Officers on the scene discovered Gala with a Massachusetts driver’s license with her photo but a different identity. Wooten had a New Jersey driver’s license with her own photo but a different identity as well. The fake I.D.’s and an American Express card were seized and the women were taken to police headquarters, where they were released on a promise to appear in court July 29.
