Four Arrested After Drug Deal Gone Wrong in Fairfield

[Editor's note: Arrest information is supplied by the Fairfield Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.]

Three men and one juvenile were arrested Monday after a drug deal gone wrong, according to police.

One of the men called police Monday night to tell them that three individuals attempted to rob him at gunpoint at Palamar Park on Palamar Drive in Fairfield. Responding officers got to the scene and determined the suspects were at a home on York Drive, where one of the suspects lives.

Police found the three suspects getting out of a car in a driveway on York Road and promptly arrested them.

Upon interviewing the complainant, officers found out that the victim had a counterfeit ID, was in possession of marijuana and rolling papers, and intended to sell the marijuana to the three robbery suspects, Police Chief Gary MacNamara said.

The complainant -- identified as Patrick Mimms, 18, of Rock Ridge Road in Fairfield -- was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Mimms reportedly set up a deal with the three suspects to sell pot to them at the field on Palamar Drive. But, the suspects had other plans in mind, and attempted to rob Mimms of the marijuana, MacNamara said. One of the suspects -- the juvenile -- reportedly had a pistol that he discarded on Palamar Drive.

Police, with the help of the Fire Department, conducted a search for the weapon and found that it was black Airsoft pellet gun that resembled a Glock automatic pistol, MacNamara said. Officers determined the Airsoft gun belonged to the juvenile.

Investigators believe the three suspects planned to rob Mimms of the marijuana, according to MacNamara.

The juvenile -- a 17-year-old York Road resident -- was charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, carrying a pistol without a permit, and breach of peace.

Another suspect -- Zoahaib Zahid Qureshi, 20, of N. Taylor Avenue in Norwalk -- was charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The third suspect -- Kadeem St. Christopher Mundle, 20, of Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield -- was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery.

Mimms was released after posting a $1,000 bond and is due in court on June 5. The youth was released on a promise to appear in juvenile court on June 3. Mundle posted a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 4. Qureshi -- who police said has a history of similar arrests -- was released after posting a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 4.
