I-95 Closed in Both Directions

Reported gas leak causes shutdown at exit 37.

Milford Police just released the following information about the highway closure:

Emergency personnel from the Milford Fire Department, Milford Police Department and Connecticut State Police are currently dealing with a ruptured gas line fire on Interstate 95 in the vicinity of Exit 37 in Milford. The following roadways are closed at this time:

  • I-95 Southbound at Exit 39
  • I-95 Northbound at Exit 36
  • High Street (between the Boston Post Road and Zion Hill Road)

Motorists are urged to use alternate routes at this time.

Due to a reported gas leak, the Milford Fire Department has asked the state to shut down I-95, North and South Bound at exit 37, according to Paul Vance, Connecticut State Police Commanding Officer.

Extensive traffic delays are building for those traveling south from north of Milford, and those delays are spilling onto Route 1 and local roads, as well. Check out our Commute section for traffic conditions.
