Man Charged in Stillson Road Burglary

A Bridgeport man was arrested Saturday in connection to the February burglary of a Stillson Road home, police said.

The victim reported to police on Feb. 12 that a sliding glass door on his home had been smashed by a 20-pound dumbbell sometime that day, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.

Items missing included a jewelry box containing necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, according to the report.

Neighbors noticed a Hispanic male had been going around the neighborhood that day, looking for work by shoveling snow, according to the report. The man was seen near the complainant's home and left the neighborhood in a gray four-door sedan registered to someone in Milford.

Fairfield police worked with police from other towns to determine Richie Rios, 30, of Bridgeport was one of at least two suspects involved in the burglary, possibly as the driver of the gray sedan.

Rios was picked up Saturday by West Haven police and turned over to Fairfield. He was charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, Lussier said.

He was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 29.
