A Fairfield man was charged Saturday with operating a vehicle under the influence following an investigation of an accident in October, police said.
On Oct. 20, a man on a motorcycle was reportedly traveling east on the Post Road on when the rear wheel of the vehicle slid out, causing the driver to fall off the bike, according to the police report.
The man -- later identified by police as Curtis Cocco, 40, of Rodgers Road -- gave police his recollection of the accident and was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center for evaluation. Before the accident, Cocco was reportedly at O Bar on Sanford Street, where he allegedly drank beer, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.
After obtaining medical records that reportedly revealed alcohol in his system, police applied for a warrant for Cocco's arrest, which was served on Saturday. He was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 12.
