Man Charged with Harassing Fairfield Woman

Police served a warrant for the man's arrest on Thursday.

A Red Hook, N.Y. was arrested Thursday for allegedly harassing his ex-wife, a Fairfield woman, police said.

According to the report, the victim called police in December to report harassing emails, texts, and voice messages from her ex-husband. Police warned the man to stop contacting the complainant, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.

The victim gave police a statement in January reporting several acts of vandalism that she believed her ex-husband was responsible for, including a glass patio table that was smashed on the date of the couple's anniversary, police said.

Police applied for a warrant for the man's arrest, which was served on Thursday.

Kurt Sassenberg, 48, was charged with second-degree harassment. He was held on a $7,500 bond and was scheduled to have appeared in court on Friday.
