Man Charged with Possession of Burglary Tool in Fairfield

Police found the suspect reportedly peering into an unoccupied car in the Planet Fitness parking lot.

A Bridgeport man was arrested Friday on a warrant for an incident that occurred in May.

Police observed a man peering through the passenger window of an unoccupied Jeep Grand Cherokee in the Planet Fitness parking lot on May 8. At the time, there had been numerous reports of car break-ins in that parking lot and the surrounding area on Black Rock Turnpike.

The officer stopped the man, who denied that that he was looking into vehicles, according to the report. The man -- identified as Eddie Ferra, 19 -- reportedly putting his hands in and out of his pockets and the officer conducted a pat down. Ferra allegedly had a screwdriver in the pocket of his sweatshirt. The screwdriver's tip was bent in a way that suggested it could be used as a prying tool, according to the report.

Ferra reportedly told police that he uses the screwdriver to get into his girlfriend's house, according to the report. The tool was seized as evidence and Ferra was released at the scene.

He was charged Friday with possession of a burglary tools. Ferra was released on a promise to appear in court on Jan. 14.
