Man Charged with Swiping Cash, Tools from Car

A Bridgeport man allegedly stole $200 in cash and $250 in tools from a car on Greenfield Street, police say.

A Bridgeport man was charged Wednesday with sixth-degree larceny and third-degree burglary after witnesses saw him reach into a vehicle and flee with stolen items, police said.

Johnny Cox, 50, allegedly took $200 in cash and $250 worth of power tools from a car parked on Greenfield Street before fleeing via vehicle. Police located Cox in Bridgeport and detained him.

According to the report, Cox was hired to help a Greenfield Street resident move some items.

Cox was released on a promise to appear on July 18.
