A Bridgeport man was charged with driving under the influence late Tuesday after a witness observed him driving backwards on a Fairfield road, police said.
The vehicle that Robert Pastor, 42, was driving was first witnessed sideways in the middle of Easton Turnpike and then began traveling backwards, according to the police report.
Police located Pastor and the vehicle and noted a strong odor of alcohol on Pastore, according to the report. He failed field sobriety tests and a breath test revealed he had a 0.3544 blood alcohol content -- more than four times the legal limit, police said.
Pastor was released after posting a $100 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 1.
