Man Messes with Power

A Bridgeport man was arrested Sunday after it was discovered he was operating a vehicle without insurance – but that’s not all.

The stop lead to police discovering that Erik Spore, 42, of 573 Bishop Ave in Bridgeport, had been wreaking havoc on his soon-to-be ex-wife and children - and was arrested for a second charge, breach of peace.

His wife and two young children arrived home Sept. 30 to no power at their 65 Sedan Terrace residence, police said. Upon calling UI, she discovered that Spore had called in earlier to report flooding in the home’s basement, and the company promptly shut off the power. Police inspected the home and found no evidence of flooding.

Police caught Spore in the middle of his fabrication, but UI will not restore power until a town building official inspects the home. Spore was released upon written promise to appear in court today.

Red Bull, Anyone?

Saturday nights can be tiring, but are they tiring enough for $222 worth of Red Bull? One suspicious shopper didn’t think so.

Security at the Super Stop & Shop reported a heavyset, white female lugging around three store bags full of Red Bull while another individual, who arrived with the woman, waited outside.

After carrying the bags through the store, the woman plopped the bags down in Aisle Three and left.

Craig’s List Whodunit

A resident at 57 Pine Ridge Road needed his hot tub fixed and turned to Craig’s List, according to police.

A fellow who called himself “Jeff” arrived Sept. 29, told the hot tub’s owner he needed some cash for a new filter he ordered at Leslie Pool, took the money and left. The resident discovered the next day that his old filter was missing and believed Jeff took it. He called Leslie Pool, and a representative told him no one came in to pick up a new filter, the report said.
