Merritt Crash Fatalities ID'd as Stratford Sisters [Updated]

Citing messages on Twitter, the Connecticut Post reports that the two victims in a fatal crash on the Merritt Parkway Saturday morning are sisters from Stratford.

The Connecticut Post reports that Tiffany and Chantel Osorio are the two sisters who died in the early morning crash on the Merritt Parkway on Saturday.

Both are from Stratford and graduates of .

They were returning from New York City where they had been celebrating Chantel's 24th birthday, according to the report.

Two people died Saturday morning after the car they were riding in veered off the Merritt Parkway, crashed into a tree and burst into flames, police said.

The accident happened at about 6:30 a.m. on the northbound side between exits 42 and 44 in Fairfield.

"Fire crews extinguished the fire and found two deceased persons inside the car," . "The location of the accident was just over the town line in the Town of Fairfield."

As of 10:40 a.m. Monday, the names of the victims had not been released, according to state police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance.

However, the Connecticut Post, citing messages on Twitter, reports that the deceased are sisters from Stratford, both in their 20s, who were returning from a trip to New York City.

"We aren't confirming anything until medical examiners make a positive ID," Vance said.
