Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

Police stopped a car at Lake Mohegan for unsafe backing and found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the car, according to the report.

A Bridgeport man faces drug charges following a motor vehicle stop at on Wednesday, police said.

Julio Padilla, 23, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana, and smoking marijuana in public after police found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his car, according to the police report.

Police found four plastic bags containing pot, two bags holding approximately 100 glassine baggies, and cash stowed under the seats and in the glove compartment, according to the police report.

When the responding officer spoke with Padilla, he reported detecting the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Padilla reportedly admitted he and his passenger had just smoked.

Padilla was detained, charged, and released on a written promise to appear in court on May 15.

Padilla was also issued an infraction for unsafe backing.
