Need for Speed Lands Man with Reckless Driving Charges

A New York man faces several motor vehicle charges after police witnessed him driving in excess of 70 mph down Brooklawn Avenue early Wednesday.

Anthony Campion, 20, of Massapequa, N.Y., was charged with two counts of failing to obey a red light and reckless driving, according to the report.

An officer saw the car Campion was driving going so fast that the vehicle bottomed out as it crossed North Avenue into Bridgeport. Police caught up with Campion and charged him accordingly.

Campion was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 11.

A Bridgeport woman was arrested for allegedly shoplifting $129 worth of health and beauty products from the on Villa Avenue Tuesday, police said.

Teresa Jeffries, 29, was charged with sixth-degree larceny after Stop & Shop employees told police that Jeffries placed the items in green, reusable bags and left the store without paying, according to the report.

Police followed Jeffries' car to her home in Bridgeport, where they recovered the items -- eye pencils, eyeliners, and men's body spray. She reportedly told police she could sell the products to a convenience store in Bridgeport for cash.

Jeffries was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 10.
