Newtown Shooter's Father Reportedly Has Stamford Ties

The father of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooter reportedly lives in the Westover section of the city, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Peter Lanza, father to the identified Newtown elementary school shooter who killed close to 30 people Friday, including 20 children, is a Stamford resident in the Westover section of the city, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Lanza lives there with his new wife after filing for divorce from 20-year-old identified shooter Adam Lanza's mother, the Advocate reports. The paper identified Lanza as the vice president of taxes for GE Energy Financial Services. He's also reportedly taught classes at both Fairfield and Northeastern universities.

Stamford police were reportedly called to the residence by state police to conduct a welfare check.

Patch has been reporting on the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy all day, and the most up-to-date information can be found right here.

Peter Lanza should be held responsible for his sons actions. He was well aware that he had a mental illness and had more than enough money to take him to a private dr. I am sure he was WELL aware of his mothers teachings how to shoot a gun and ignored ALL the signs of this MONSTER called his son. He should be sued and be charged with neglet.

Gayle..He paid the mother 12k a month...a beautiful house...He wanted a new life..He did his duty and did it well obviously....He didn't buy the guns, the wife did(which says alot). The son and wife didn't work hard. They had too much. I see it in this town often, "too good, no good" The husband did things responsibly. I have seen the responsible and hard working one get blamed one too many times, especially by the non-doers.

Gayle: I personally find your comment completeyt unfair. You can't even begin to understand how he must be feeling right now and as John stated, he did all that he was mandated to do. I too am divorced with a less that dependable ex wife raising a son that is consistently in trouble while the kids with me are role models. I understand him well and this incident saddened me tremendously. Boys growing up without a positive father figure seem to have great trouble in life and poor values.

and every other parent should likewise be 'charged' as an accomplice in every criminal act by their offspring as well? wow, that's quite a stretch! Gayle, you must be an avid supporter of the legal assistance industry (lawyers)! just as newspapers first blurted out that the killer was Ryan Lanza rather than his brother Adam, the actual perp, we must refrain from spinning more tales of misbegotten woe and unfounded facts.
