Officers Rescue Dog from Long Island Sound

The chocolate Lab was sighted swimming from Jennings Beach to the Penfield Reef Lighthouse.

Two Fairfield Police Marine Unit officers rescued a chocolate Labrador Retriever Monday after the dog was spotted swimming from Jennings Beach toward Penfield Reef Lighthouse.

Officers James Wiltsie and Grant Dalling located the dog, took it on board the police boat. The Wiltsie and Dalling returned the dog to its owner, who was waiting at the fuel dock in South Benson Marina.

I am the owner of the chocolate lab (penny) and Would like to say Thanks again to the officers and people involved in saving her. I never thought she would hit the water and keep going. It was her first time to the beach off leash.
