Pair Charged in Kohl’s Shoplifting

Over $500 worth of items taken

Adult and youth arrested in Kohl’s shoplifting

An adult female and a female minor were arrested early evening Thursday on sixth-degree larceny charges after a shoplifting incident at Kohl’s Dept. Store, 290 Tunxis Hill Rd.

According to police, the adult, Dayleen Lee, 26, of Bridgeport, and a youth took numerous items into the changing room, stuffed the items into bags, went to the front of the store and walked out without paying. Store security detained them in the parking lot and called police. Lee was found with $116 worth of items while the youth had $394 worth of goods. A background check on Lee turned up a warrant for failure to appear in a Milford court on a past charge.

Lee was released on a $500 bond for Fairfield; Milford P.D. was notified. No court date was available. The youth was released on a written promise to appear in juvenile court Sept. 22.

Credit account accessed without authorization

A Fairfield woman reported late morning Thursday, at police headquarters, that a bank account she only uses for doctor visits was accessed without her authorization.

According to police, the woman, who lives at 118 Lloyd Drive, was contacted by her financial institution which said several charges had been made to her account.

Complaint of fraud through eBay transaction

A Fairfield woman came to headquarters Thursday evening to report a case of mail fraud.

According to police, the woman ordered through eBay computer hard drives from a company in China. She did receive a package, but it contained on a Chinese coin. The company no longer has an eBay account. The cost of the hard drives was $385.84.

Arrest on noise complaint charge

A Loudonville, NY man residing at 953 Fairfield Beach Road was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge late Thursday night after hosting a loud party at the home.

According to police, a neighbor called in a noise complaint and officers were dispatched to investigate. The determined the noise level was unreasonable, saw a lot of people arriving, walking to a rear deck and yelling. All this could be heard from the road, said police. Upon further investigation, officers found 50 approximately 50 people hanging out on a rear deck. Police did a background check on the address and found there was a complaint logged back on July 16 and an arrest made August 19. Police told the host, John Fitzgerald, 21, to shut the party down.

Fitzgerald was issue a $100 bond and court date of Sept. 26.

Houses/cars paintballed overnight

The homeowner at 292 Wheeler Park Avenue reported first thing Friday morning this her house and vehicle had been hit with paintballs overnight.

According to police, there were paintball marks on her garage door and two cars parked in the complainant’s driveway. Paintball hits were also discovered on the garage at the house next door, 23 Eastfield, and on the house at 330 Wheeler.

Breach of peace charged after verbal altercation in ShopRite lot

A Bridgeport woman was arrested late afternoon Thursday after a verbal altercation with another motorist in the parking lot at ShopRite supermarket, 1975 Black Rock Turnpike.

According to police, Brenda Mendez, 39, was growing impatient waiting for a  parking spot to become free. She got out of her car and began yelling at another motorist. Officers working a detail nearby witnessed the incident, as did shoppers in the general area, including many young children.

Mendez was issued a misdemeanor summons for breach of peace and released on a promise to appear in court Sept. 23.
