Pizza Post Break-in, Tools Taken, Home Invasion

Cash stolen, entry damaged at Pizza Post; $1,000 in tools taken from storage box; Man enters home, frightens 15-year-old

The following arrest and investigations information was supplied by the Fairfield Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

Pizza Post break-in, robbery

A bread deliveryman reported early Sunday morning that the glass front door of Pizza Post at 200 Tunxis Hill Road had been damaged. An investigation determined cash had been taken from the business.

According to police, a deliveryman reported around 6 a.m. broken glass and a hole in the front door of the pizza purveyor. Investigators determined that a piece of cement found on the scene was likely used to break the door. Further, it was discovered that a cash register drawer, containing $1,975 in cash, had been taken, a computer toppled over and change box pried open with $78 missing. Police also found damage to the back door in what appeared to be a failed attempt to gain access. The front door damage was pegged at $1,500, back door at $100 and cash drawer at $500.

The business owner suspected an employee that was let go July 4. The incident is still under investigation.

Tools taken from storage box

On Friday around 7 p.m., Frank Dawid, the homeowner at 154 John Street, reported that a storage box on his property had been broken into and eight tools, valued at around $1,000, had been taken.

According to police, a lock on the box had been broken and was lying on the ground. Dawid told police that a chop saw, compressor, nail gun, belt sander, palm sander and two reciprocating saws had been taken. Though there were no witnesses, police had a likely suspect and were continuing their investigation.

Home invasion and attempted theft

A 15-year-old girl at 11 Cherry Hill Road reported late Friday morning that a man had illegally entered her family’s home while she was there alone and attempted to take or remove the contents of a safe.

According to police, around 11 a.m., a man described as a white male, six-foot-tall, late 30s, white hair, muscular build, wearing a dress shirt and tie, gained access through a basement window on the east side of the home closest to Black Rock Turnpike. He had dragged a large safe from a master bedroom to the middle of a hallway when the girl discovered him. He fled from the house via the front door. The girl texted her mother about the incident – the woman contacted police. The would-be thief was gone upon officers’ arrival.

Unauthorized entry, theft

An apartment tenant at 715 Black Rock Turnpike reported Friday morning that her ex-boyfriend had entered her property when she was not there and taken jewelry.

According to police, at around 10 a.m., the woman said she discovered that a necklace valued at $200 and Star of David pendant, value at $50, were both missing. Neighbors said they saw the woman’s ex-boyfriend coming and going from the residence several times. The boyfriend said he did not take anything. The woman told police the front door lock doesn’t work properly. The missing jewelry was not located and the ex-boyfriend was warned to stay away.

Woman arrested after fight with daughter

Chrystyna Dawid-Murphy, 37, of 154 John Street, was arrested Friday afternoon after an altercation with her 15-year-old daughter.

According to police, at around 3:45 p.m., the woman and her daughter became physical and the 15-year-old was pushed to the ground. Officers noticed a bleeding cut on the girl’s ear and red marks on her arms. The girl left the home and called police. The woman said the girl had been disrespectful while her daughter said her mother was intoxicated. Dawid-Murphy was arrested for third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and risk of injury to a minor and released on a promise to appear in court July 18. The girl’s father has taken custody of two younger children.

BMW entered and robbed of several items

The homeowner at 1180 Merritt Street reported Friday night that his BMW, which was parked and unlocked in his driveway, had been entered and robbed of several items.

According to police, an ashtray and $4 of change inside it, a black wallet containing $30 to $40, several items from a side door and possibly a GPS unit had been taken. The wallet was later turned in to police by an unidentified woman. The ashtray had a value of approximately $129.

Lawn sprinkler and hose taken

The homeowner at 106 Knollwood Drive reported Sunday morning that his lawn sprinkler and one of his hoses had been stolen from his front yard.

According to police, the homeowner went to run errands between 8:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and, when he returned, the garden equipment was gone. Value is estimated at $40.

Loud party spurs arrest

A young man renting a home at 993 Fairfield Beach Road was arrested around 1:45 a.m. Saturday after police received a call about a loud party he was hosting at the residence.

According to police, at around midnight, a neighbor called in a noise complaint. When officers investigated, they found a loud party, with about 25 people gathered on a back deck, in progress. The renter, Kevin Lehman, 26, of Easton, was warned and police left the scene. Less than two hours later, police received another complaint, returned to the house and found loud music playing once again. Determining that the noise was unreasonable for that time of the day, police arrested Lehman on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was released at the scene on a promise to appear in court on July 28.

Trek bike stolen

A Trek bike valued at $250 was reported stolen Friday afternoon from Roger Ludlowe Middle School.

Police reviewed school video that showed a male, wearing a hat and backpack, taking the 21” bicycle. Police will attempt to enhance the video to try and determine the identity of the thief as they continue their investigation.

Garage burglarized

The homeowner at 264 Villa Avenue reported the theft of a bicycle from a garage on the property around 6 p.m. Friday.

According to police, the complainant said they have video footage of a juvenile, described as a black male, wheeling the green Schwinn ladies bike through the backyard. The bike is valued at $300.

Apartment sacked; electronics stolen

The tenant of an apartment at 711 Black Rock Turnpike reported the theft of two laptops and an Xbox game system.

According to police, the tenant said the apartment was entered sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. and that an HP laptop valued at $900, MacBook valued at $200 and Xbox valued at $250 were stolen. Entry to the apartment appears to have been gained through a window, by apparent force. A basement window also had a screen removed, which was found placed to the side.

The incident is still under investigation.

Tree, street and driveway vandalized

A woman on Andrassy Avenue reported the vandalism of two of her neighbors’ properties and the adjacent street late Sunday afternoon.

According to police, several acts of graffiti vandalism occurred, which were photo documented by the complainant. On the street, the phrases “FACE IT” and “XXX” were sprayed. A tree at 132 Andrassy Avenue was also sprayed. A driveway at 134 Andrassy was sprayed blue and marked with the message “FtW holla”.
